Have you said to yourself, I would really like to be part of a Rotary project in another country? If so, here is your opportunity. Our Rotary Club will be going down to Panajachel, Guatemala to volunteer with NGO Natun Guatemala February 27 – March 7, 2027. This will be our club’s 12th visit to Natun! During the 9-day trip you will be able to visit Guatemalan tourist attractions on the weekends and volunteer at Natun, in the Lake Atitlan area. Natun Guatemala works to empower impoverished indigenous Mayan Guatemalans through sustainable programs to educate, provide nutrition & health, and economic development.

In past visits, our club’s foundation and club members have helped establish a community garden, provide a Natun preschool patio roof, built stoves, provided water filters, assisted at the elderly feeding program, establish a tutor program, build 10 homes, plus much more! You might ask: Do I need to have any special skills? Answer: Not really, just the ability to learn on the job, be flexible, and have an open heart. Do I need to know Spanish? No, we will have interpreters with us.

Requirements include that you need to be in reasonably good health and pay your own expense which includes R/T Air, hotel, transportation, most food, etc. The club’s foundation picks up the cost of the projects. If you are interested in going or, have questions please come to our Welcome Reception for Natun’s Ellie Wason on Oct. 6th, 5:30 p.m. at the Red Cross, 2707 State St., S.B. or, contact Bill Dutton at billdutton5@msn.com, (805) 448-1296 or Don Jack at donaldjack@verizon.net.  Sign-up will start at our Rotary meeting on October 1st.
