Fellow Rotarians,

Our thanks to all who joined us for our last meeting (9/3), whether in person at Brass Bear in the Funk Zone or online. For those who missed it we called an audible. We learned that morning that our speaker, Dr. Inés Casillas, had to reschedule leaving us with 40 minutes of content to fill. We needed a new program, and fast. So, we did what felt natural (for me at least).

We played pub trivia.

We played four rounds of action-packed Q&A spanning such topics as Santa Barbara history, general knowledge, flags of the world, and the arts. Congratulations to the power team of Robert Dibley, Dick Sologga, Dan Herlinger, Dean Axelrod, and Steve Milam for taking the win. They earned free drinks at our next happy hour!

Other meeting highlights include Mike Bieza delivering the Pledge of Allegiance, Milam offering an invocation, and a moment of inspiration from Connie Green. We raised $165 in fines and welcomed back Richard Auhll to the RCSB table.

We are back on Sept. 17 for our next meeting with special guest Sara Dearman who will present on the process of decommissioning the deep-water oil platforms in the Santa Barbara channel.

Until then thank you for all that you do for our club and the community.

In service,

Matt
