Dear Fellow Rotarians,
It was a joy to induct three new members to our club at our last meeting. Andrew Hicks, Greg Knowles, and Judie Lugo from the Police Activities League (corporate membership), all became Rotarians!

We also heard a wonderful presentation from Max Tyler, representing the Santa Cruz Island Foundation. Max shared some of the history of Santa Cruz and the other Channel Islands. Several members expressed an interest in joining a service project with the Santa Cruz Island Foundation, and we hope to plan something with them in the future.

The end of the Rotary year is upon us! We have two events to mark the transition from one year to the next. This Friday, June 18, we will have our last meeting of the year and we are thrilled that it will be in-person at Opal Restaurant! We are following Rotary International and District 5240 guidance to meet in accordance with local and state public health guidelines. We hope you can join us. Register online so we can give an accurate count to the restaurant. We will be looking back over this year of service to our community, and we will celebrate local organizations that recently received grants from our Club’s Foundation. We will hear from Hearts Therapeutic Equestrian Center, Santa Barbara Police Activities League, SEE International, and Casa Serena.

On June 25, the last Friday of the year, we will return to one of our great transition traditions with a Step Down party. Bob and Kim Fatch are kindly hosting this event at their home. I’d like to thank the 2021 RCSB Step Down Planning Committee: Michael Baker, Mike Bieza, Jennifer LeMert, and Matt Nehmer. Please see the information below and be sure to register online. Partners, friends, and family members, including kids, are welcome to join us.

Yours in Rotary Service,
Stacey
