It’s July 1 which means it’s a new year for our Rotary Club.  I am honored to serve as your new president and I am hoping for an enjoyable and productive year for our club.

As I start the new year, I first want to express my appreciation to Garrett for all his tireless efforts over the past year.  Garrett made meetings enjoyable, encouraged new ideas from members, and through his own example, demonstrated the Rotary tradition of “Service Above Self.”

Many of you attended the Step Down Party on June 21 where our club formally honored Garrett for such a great year.  About thirty five members and partners/spouses attended the get together at the University Club. It was an excellent venue, with great food, and I think everyone had a wonderful time.

As we look to the future, I want to remind everyone that we will not be having a meeting this Friday, July 5, due to the 4th of July Holiday.  Wishing all of you a happy and safe holiday as we celebrate the 248th anniversary of the founding of our country.

Our next meeting will be held on Friday, July 19.  Please watch carefully regarding the location.  We are in the final negotiations with the Mar Monte Hotel on Cabrillo and hope to have the meeting there on July 19.   More details shortly!!

On July 19, we will be having our annual Club Assembly to talk about the state of our club, and where we hope to go in the next year.  I hope all of you can attend this important meeting so we can all talk about our club, meet your new Board of Directors, and rededicate ourselves to Rotary.

Again, enjoy your 4th of July and I hope to see you on July 19.

Jim
