Our Rotary Club has been invited by the Santa Barbara Sunrise Rotary Club to join them in an international project in Celaya, Mexico.  Locally based SEE International will be conducting eye surgeries (mainly cataract) for low income residents in the Celaya area at no cost.  This eye clinic is sponsored by the Celaya Nat-Tha-Hi Rotary Club (all women). Surgeries will be conducted in Celaya on June 24 – 25, 2022.  Volunteer Rotarians will need to arrive by June 23rd.  Volunteers will participate in the clinic by assisting the patients during the pre and post-op surgery process.  Spanish is not required but it is helpful.
SEE International donates the medical supplies and materials for the surgeries and the Rotarians from Santa Barbara will bring the supplies with them on the plane.  The Nat-Tha-Hi Rotarians will meet you at the airport (Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico (BJX-Bajio Intl. Airport).  They will provide transportation, lodging, and meals.  Your only cost is for your air flight (around $950).  Currently, two Rotarians are using American Airlines out of Santa Barbara.

This is a great project to participate in and to see Rotary in action and meet Rotarians from another country.  Dan Herlinger and Bill Dutton have previously gone on this trip.  Don Jack has already signed-up and has his airline reservation.  If you would like to sign-up or have questions, please contact Bill Dutton at (805) 967-3062 or billdutton5@msn.com by May 27th.  An orientation, in June, will be conducted for those participating in the project.  FYI, if you are unable to go to Mexico, in late October, we will have another project/trip to Guatemala.
