I was glad to see many of my fellow Rotarians at the baby shower for Stacey and Matt last Thursday evening which was graciously hosted by Jim and Pat Stretchberry. Great food, drink and fellowship. We all wish Stacey and Matt the best as they bring a new Rotarian into their family.
We meet this Friday and have a great speaker in Jerry Roberts. Jerry is a long-time political journalist who has covered State and local politics for over forty years. He spent many years in San Francisco at the San Francisco Chronicle, eventually serving as Managing Editor. He came to Santa Barbara in 2002 and served as the Editor of the News Press until it imploded in 2005. Over the past many years, he has been the host of Newsmakers with Jerry Roberts, commenting on local and State politics. We have asked Jerry to comment on State and local issues on the upcoming ballot. This will be a great program to bring guests or potential members.
There is still time to register for the District Conference which will be held in San Luis Obispo on October 25-27. The Club will reimburse members for 50% of the registration costs should you choose to attend. Details can be found on the District 5240 website, which you can access through our Club Runner App.
