Happy Monday on a beautiful Santa Barbara Day!

He have a meeting this Friday.  Hope you can make it.  Our speaker, Jamie Devries comes highly recommended by our Program Committee Chair, Dan Aldrich.  Jamie is a teacher at Providence High School and joined the Providence faculty after teaching one year at Santa Ynez Valley High School and 22 years at San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara. At San Marcos, he founded the Entrepreneurship Academy, the Kids Helping Kids fundraising program, and was CEO of ELP Education. He was been recognized as Santa Barbara County Distinguished Educator of the Year and as Goleta Valley Educator of the Year. He also is the recipient of the Superintendent Bill Cirone Heart of Education Award. Jamie is going to talk about the Kids Helping Kids program. It should be an inspiring presentation.

Speaking of programs, I want to remind our members that our District Governor Sherry Sim will be visiting our club on Friday, December 6th.  Sherry is an inspiring leader and I am sure will make a fantastic presentation. She is a native of Singapore and a long time member of the Cayucos club.  Please put on your calendar and try to make it.

This Saturday I made the long and beautiful drive up to San Luis Obispo to attend the District 5240 Conference.  The day included a series of workshops and presentations on District youth and exchange programs, the global diabetes epidemic, and Rotary efforts to address climate change. Also attending were representatives from sister districts in Korea and Mexico. It was a great way to learn a little more about our District and Rotary International efforts throughout the world.

Hope to see you on Friday at our meeting.
