Greetings fellow Rotarian from Jackson Hole Wyoming.  I am here this week with 50 members of the Santa Barbara Ski Club. I wish I could say we are enjoying the skiing, but so far the weather has not been cooperating. Between rain at lower altitudes, poor visibility, and high winds, it has been much less than ideal. But still having a wonderful time with lots of old friends, and hoping the next four days are better.

We have a great meeting scheduled this week, with guest speaker Kiernan Shah, CEO of VNA Health, formerly known as Visiting Nurses Association. VNA is one of the great institutions in Santa Barbara and I expect he will provide a great perspective on the state of health care nationally and in Santa Barbara.

Jennifer will be chairing the meeting in my absence.  She will do a great job, and will show you what a fantastic job she’ll do next year.

Lastly, I want to remind everyone about our Rotary Foundation’s grant program.  You recently received an email from Judie Lugo asking for members to sponsor non-profits to apply for a foundation grant award.  The deadline for grant applications is February 20, 2025 and requires a Rotarian to nominate an applicant to apply.  So if you have a favorite non-profit doing great work in the community, this is your chance to help them out.  If any questions, feel free to contact Judie.  Her email address is jlugo@sbpal.org. And her phone number is 805-962-5560.

Have a great week and I’ll see you on my return.

Jim
