Celebrate the end of the week with your Rotary friends at Happy Hour. It's a great way to celebrate the end of the week and explore some of the restauants and bars in the Santa Barbara area. Even if you don't like alcohol, there's lots of other drinks on the menu and the fellowship with your fellow Rotarians will keep you smiling! |

*Our previously scheduled program: Santa Barbara Sky had to cancel, and has beeb re-booked to a later date.
We are please to announce that our program the Friday will feature Sally Cook, co-founder of Hope Refuge (now the Olive Crest Hope Refuge Campus) and current Director of Development & Community Engagement at Olive Crest.
Sally will present:
“Shining a Light on Sex Trafficking of Minors Here in Santa Barbara” Sex trafficking of minors is the fastest-growing criminal industry in the U.S., and sadly, it is happening in our own community. Sally and her husband, Chuck, launched one of California’s largest residential programs for trafficked girls, offering restoration and hope for survivors.
With her background in radio and television, Sally brings a unique blend of storytelling, advocacy, and hope. Her talk will be eye-opening and inspiring, leaving us better informed about what’s happening locally and how lives are being rebuilt.

(Immediately following regular Friday club meeting) The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara has been doing volunteer work supporting the indigenous Maya population in Guatemala almost annually since 2014. Our partner in this effort is an organization called Natun. This is our major international project and allows members of our Club to experience international volunteer work in a "hands on" way. The visit normally lasts for about one week. The International Service Projects Committee is planning to meet after the regular Club meeting on Friday, August 29 to determine the best week for our visit in 2026. Because of weather and other considerations we will be selecting a week in February or March. If you are interested in participating in 2026 have a preferred week you can either attend the meeting on 8/29 after the regular Club meeting or communicate your preferences to Don Jack (donaldjack@verizon.net ) prior to that date. Hope that you can join us. " |

Nov. 01, 2025 8:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
The Rise Against Hunger food packaging event is scheduled for
November 1, 2025 and at the Goleta Community Center located at 5679 Hollister Road, Goleta.
Volunteers can sign up online for one or more shifts:
SET UP: 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
FOOD PACKAGING: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.
LOADING AND CLEAN UP: 12:00 p.m.- 1:00pm
Here is the link where volunteers can sign up. Shift designation is at the end of the sign up page.
Each club is allowed 10 people to participate, which will give us a total of 80 volunteers! So we will need to operate on a first-come first-served basis by club. Youth volunteers are allowed.
Highlights - There will be a "Wheel of Fortune." We will pass out tickets to everyone, and throughout the event do regular wheel spins. Winners will receive a prize. So, it would be wonderful if you can contribute any Rotary bling, pins, hats and other items that you would be willing to donate as gifts. I'd like a club to take the lead with this. I have the wheel.
Please reach out to your local media contacts or connections and let them know what we're doing. I have some write ups and info on Rise Against Hunger for your club lead. We'll centralize our PR push through Karen Kawaguchi.
Thank you
