The Rise Against Hunger food packaging event is scheduled for
November 1, 2025 and at the Goleta Community Center located at 5679 Hollister Road, Goleta.
Volunteers can sign up online for one or more shifts:
SET UP: 8:30 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.
FOOD PACKAGING: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.
LOADING AND CLEAN UP: 12:00 p.m.- 1:00pm

Each club is allowed 10 people to participate, which will give us a total of 80 volunteers! So we will need to operate on a first-come first-served basis by club. Youth volunteers are allowed.
Highlights - There will be a "Wheel of Fortune." We will pass out tickets to everyone, and throughout the event do regular wheel spins. Winners will receive a prize. So, it would be wonderful if you can contribute any Rotary bling, pins, hats and other items that you would be willing to donate as gifts. I'd like a club to take the lead with this. I have the wheel.
Please reach out to your local media contacts or connections and let them know what we're doing. I have some write ups and info on Rise Against Hunger for your club lead. We'll centralize our PR push through Karen Kawaguchi.

Join us for an stimulating presentation by Dr. Jai Ranganathan PhD in biology from Stanford. He currently works for NOAA and the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary as part of a research team. He uses A.I. to improve communication around National Marine Sanctuaries. He will be presenting a conversation on A.I. and explain what it is and how it works, and address the pros, cons and fears and the ecological and economic impacts |
