President’s Letter – September 5, 2019

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Community is a powerful force. In the form of fellowship and collective service, it is one of the most important things that keep us coming together week after week. At this week’s meeting we will have a chance to grow our community, when we are joined by members of the Rotary Club of Montecito, and non-Rotarian guests who are interested in the program. It will be a chance to show them what the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara is all about. I am looking forward to the opportunity for broader fellowship, and a chance to show off our great club. Next week we will have another chance when we host the City Council Candidates Forum.

Both of these events, and the Reporters Roundtable at the end of the month, are of interest to people you know. Your friends, your professional colleagues, your vendors, and your clients. I encourage you to be comfortable encouraging them to attend. You can bring them as a guest and pay for their lunch, or you can let them know they can pay at the door. You can even tell them that if they are interested in the program but would prefer not to have lunch, they can attend at no cost.

The more people know what great things happen at our club meetings, and the great things we do in the community, the more they will be interested in joining. We don’t have to recruit new members. All we have to do is let them try a few samples of what we have to offer. Then they can decide for themselves whether the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara is the community they want to be a part of. Let’s open the door and see who wants to come in.

Warmest regards,
Dean
