President’s Letter – May 4, 2017

Dear Esteemed Rotarians,
Please excuse the delay in our weekly communication.  We are DARK this Friday and will have a sports day with the UCSB baseball game.
Rotary Day at the Ballgame!

That’s right, we’re going to raise the roof at a Gaucho baseball game!
At 1pm we’ll join together for an awesome BBQ lunch including scrumptious tri-tip, Gaucho Dogs, beans, slaw…the WORKS!  Head toward Harder Stadium and lunch will be served at Lot 30.
3pm the ball game starts: UCSB vs UC Davis (and we all know Aggies can’t play ball!wink)
Members:  Free!
Guests:  $30 (includes everything, including parking!)
This will be a fun, casual day, perfect for getting to know your fellow Rotarians even better!
PLEASE RSVP TODAY!
We had another meaningful speaker last Friday Melissa Honig from Valle Verde discussing “ Revolutionizing Long Term Care”.  It was such an informative presentation discussing the radical changes in long term care facilities models.  The development of a ‘Green House’ concept will most certainly offer a less sterile and clinical housing option for senior citizens.  It is an encouragement to hear a visionary like Melissa work diligently ‘out of the box’ to provide a better life for the elderly.
Also, the Rotary Blood Drive was a great success.  Thank you to all who participated.
Next week we will look forward to having Jay Ferro sharing the story about Kyle’s Kitchen.  As the parent of a special needs child words cannot express what a wonderful example this family and Kyle are to this special population.  I assure you that you will be informed and blessed by this wonderful story.
Look forward to seeing all next week.
Warm regards,
James N. Stretchberry
President
