President’s Letter – June 8, 2017

Dear Esteemed Rotarians,
What a fabulous Friday we had last week with new coach JOE PASTERNACK of the UCSB basketball team.  We are fortunate to have such a focused and purposeful man  as a coach- ‘Go Gauchos’.  It was truly an honest and inspiring presentation.
Please excuse my absence this Friday.  I am speaking at a commencement in San Diego, which was not anticipated.  Past president Bill Dutton will be leading the meeting, and will be bringing many special announcements of up-coming events as our official year comes to a close.
This week we have as our speaker one of our community leaders, DAS WILLIAMS.
Supervisor Das Williams was elected to represent the First District of Santa Barbara County in June 2016. Williams previously represented over half of Santa Barbara County and a quarter of Ventura County in the California State Assembly from 2010-2106. Prior to his service in the Assembly, Williams served 7 years on the Santa Barbara City Council from 2003-2010, and also served as a trustee for Peabody Charter School in Santa Barbara.
I look forward to seeing you all next week. And please remember the Step-Down on June 30th.  We want to start president elect Michael Gardner’s year off with a bang.
Thank you all for the continued encouragement and honor to serve as president for 2016-17.
Warm regards,
James N. Stretchberry
President 2016-17
