President’s Letter – June 29, 2017

Dear Esteemed Rotarians,
This is my final president’s letter.  What a wonderful honor it has been to be president this past year!  The encouragement, support and dedication of Santa Barbara Rotary have been a blessing and encouragement.  I look forward to many years of membership and partnership in the wonderful works of Rotary, both locally and around our entire planet.
Our speaker last Friday from the Joseph Project in Israel was insightful and encouraging, and provided us with a better understanding of Israel and the poverty experienced by 22% of the population as the result of continuing conflict.  It is encouraging to recognize organizations such as the Joseph Project, who has contributed $100 million dollars in aid to people in need, regardless of religion, ethnicity or political agenda.
I very much look forward to celebrating my year this Friday evening at the Step-Down and welcoming our incoming president, Michael Gardner.  The new board retreat last Sunday was a wonderful beginning to another Rotary year and some new leadership.  I want to encourage our members to offer President Michael the same support and encouragement provided to me this past year.
Warm regards,
James N. Stretchberry
President 2016-17
