President’s Letter – August 23, 2017

Dear Esteemed Rotarians,

We had another informative meeting last Friday with Glenn Pomeroy, CEO of the California Earthquake Authority. He gave a presentation that certainly brought to mind a greater awareness of the California earthquake issues. He explained in depth the optional insurance coverage with an emphasis on the variable pricing made available through the CEA.

This week we look forward to a program with Jill Zachary, Santa Barbara City Parks and Recreation Director, who will give an update on the restoration of the Cabrillo Pavilion and Bath House and other major parks projects in the City of Santa Barbara. In her role as Parks and Recreation Director, Jill oversees the department’s $23 million budget, 100 regular employees and a few hundred hourly employees. She has served the city for almost 20 years and has been in her current position for nearly two years. Zachary received a bachelor’s degree in government and environmental studies from Oberlin College and a master’s degree in Public Administration from California State University at Northridge.

Looking forward to seeing you this Friday noon.

Warm regards,
James N. Stretchberry
Immediate Past President
