President’s Letter – April 12, 2017

Dear Esteemed Rotarians,
What a wonderful presentation from another Santa Barbara jewel, Roger Durling.  As the Executive Director of the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Roger has truly done an amazing job.  At the last film festival, Roger was responsible for bringing 90,000 people to SB.  He has put us on the map as one of the top ten film festivals in America and one of the top twenty-five festivals in the world.  I was so impressed with Roger as he shared that he took this job with no salary on the condition that within one year he could deliver a festival which would not only be sustainable for the community but make a difference within the movie industry.  Roger has certainly made Santa Barbara a better place with his passion and commitment in his role with the SBFF.
This week we look forward to Dr. Charles Fenzi.  “We’ve selected a very strong leader at a time when Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics has entered a new phase of growth and financial stability,” stated board chairman Steve Hicks.  Hicks added, “Dr. Fenzi has an incredible ability to inspire, energize, and connect with employees, partners, donors, and patients. His leadership is exactly what Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics needs as we enter our next chapter in which our strategic plan calls for increasing our number of patients served by nearly 50 percent in the next five years.”  Fenzi joined SBNC because he wanted to be part of an organization that improved the health and lives of people in need, he said in a statement.   “In 2015 Santa Barbara Neighborhood Clinics served 18,437 individual patients, the majority of which are hardworking, low-income families who need medical and dental care and may not always be able to afford it,” he said.
Please keep in mind our SB Rotary Club blood drive and sign up at your tables on Friday.  Please call or speak to Todd McGinley, blood drive chair, regarding your interest.
Wishing each Rotarian a blessed Passover and Easter this year!
Warm regards,
James N. Stretchberry
President 2016-17
